Blizzards, traffic chaos and a monster truck rally couldn't stop the Ron Asheton Tribute at the beautiful Music Hall for the Performing Arts in Detroit.

About 2000 people turned out at an event where organisers Niagara and Colonel Galaxy engineered a reformation of Dark Carnival for the event.

The longlist of partcipants included Bootsey X on vocals and drums (on different songs) Danny Dollrod (Gories, Venus in Furs, Demolition Dollrods) on guitar and harmonica, Greasy Carlisi (guitar & bass), Pete Bankert (bass) who were all original Dark Carnival members.

Also on deck were Hiawatha Bailey (Cult Heros) on vocals and Matt Smith (Outrageous Cherry) on guitar.

The assembled crew played some of the old favorites and added some Stones songs Ron loved including "Child of the Moon.''

Of the night's many highlights was a bagpipe performance by Terry Bradley who can proudly say: "I piped Ronnie to the other side."
