FIFTY FOOT COMBO
Salle Le Vigean , Eysines
September 4, 2003
Having travelled more than 600km to get to the gig I was anxious to fing the venue and get a place to stay. Things couldn't be better with a hotel not more than 200 metres from the gig itself.
This show was going to be at a club called the Cat but with 400 tickets already pre-sold, the promoter changed the venue to a bigger place. I'd say a good 550-600 people turned up, but it was surprising to see quite a few younger ones strolling in.
I enteredand the support band were playing. Fifty Foot Combo was the group from Belgium. Pretty good sounding but no vocals just instrumentals. I quickly grew bored of this and decided to hit the bar.
Birdman rolled onto the stage around 10pm to a wonderful "Burn My Eye". I won't go into every song as most of 'em have been reported in past gigs but ..... two encores!! "Breaks My Heart" followed by "Route 66" and then a flat-out "New Race". Lights still don't come on so I am thinking we could get another blast and we did. Try and top this: "Cold Turkey" followed by "Waiting For the Man" and then "You're Gonna Miss Me". What can I say but totally AWESOME!!
Also, the merchandise on offer at the gigs is great. There are tour CD packs as well as two new T-shirts and posters. (All will be available to punters outside Europe via the Citadel records web site, post tour).
I walk away drained and get back to the room, put my feet up and say OH Yes !!
